Transnet Enterprise & Supplier Development (ESD) Programme 2026 Applications Open

Transnet, in partnership with 22 On Sloane, is inviting eligible South African SMMEs to apply for the Transnet Enterprise and Supplier Development (ESD) Incubation Programme 2026. This programme is designed to help small businesses grow, become more competitive, and build long-term sustainability through a structured incubation process. Successful applicants will take part in a 6 to 12-month incubation programme focused on business support, technical growth, and market access.

What is the Transnet ESD Programme?

The Transnet ESD Programme is a high-impact business support initiative aimed at accelerating the development of Black-, Women-, and Youth-owned enterprises in selected sectors. The programme is delivered in partnership with 22 On Sloane and offers targeted support to enterprises that meet the required criteria.

Development Scopes Available

Applicants can apply under the following scopes:

  • Plumbing (ED) – 6 months – Gauteng
  • Cleaning (SD) – 6 months – KwaZulu-Natal
  • Spill Cleaning & Environmental Services (ED) – 12 months – KwaZulu-Natal
  • Maritime Development (ED) – 12 months – KwaZulu-Natal, Eastern Cape, Western Cape
  • Construction (ED) – 6 months – Gauteng
  • Export Development (SD) – 12 months – Eastern Cape, Western Cape, KwaZulu-Natal, North West, Mpumalanga
  • Supplier Quality Management (SD) – 12 months – Gauteng

Who Can Apply?

The programme accepts applications under two categories:

1. Enterprise Development (ED)

This category is for earlier-stage businesses that are building capacity. To qualify, your enterprise must have:

  • A valid B-BBEE Certificate or Affidavit
  • Active CIPC registration
  • Valid SARS tax compliance status
  • Status as an EME or QSE with at least 51% black ownership
  • A clear product or service offering
  • Been operating for at least 12 months
  • Operated within the targeted geographic areas where required

2. Supplier Development (SD)

This category is for more established businesses ready to integrate into Transnet’s supply chain. To qualify, your enterprise must have:

  • A valid B-BBEE Certificate or Affidavit
  • Active CIPC registration
  • Valid SARS tax compliance status
  • Status as an EME or QSE with at least 51% black ownership
  • An active Transnet Vendor Number
  • Two consecutive financial year statements
  • Been operating for at least 24 months

Required Documents

Applicants must complete the online application and upload the required supporting documents, including:

  • CIPC registration documents
  • Proof of ownership and B-BBEE affidavit
  • Tax clearance certificate or PIN
  • Company profile
  • Business plan
  • Latest financial statements

Opening and Closing Date

The Transnet ESD Programme 2026 opened on 12 March 2026 and closes on 20 March 2026.
